ERTM – Engine Room Team Management
This 5-day course meets the principles laid down in STCW 95 section A-III/1, sections A-VIII/2 (Parts 3-2, 4-2, 4-4), and B-VIII/2- (Part 3-2), part A-III/2 and A-III/3 of the STCW Code, as amended. This course also satisfies relevant objectives required by IMO Model Course 2.07: Engine-Room Simulator.
Scope (Target audience) : The course is intended for engineers employed in shipping or off-shore companies. Human factors and how the ships safe and efficient operation is effected by the individual behavior and the interaction in the team are addressed through theory classes and practical cases.
Course content : The course is designed to cut the number of incidents and accidents plus the ship’s downtime by addressing potential human errors as well as watch keeping arrangements and procedures. With focus on the human factor the purpose is to reduce the number of errors and the consequences of the errors that are made anyhow.
The participants are provided with tools to improve teamwork, communication, management, decision-making and resource management. The participants will learn to understand how these ERTM skills contribute to redundancy and increased safety. The course provides understanding and training of the Engine Room Team Management concept.

Note to client : After successful completion of the course candidates will receive Engine Room Team Management certificate with a validity of five years.
