EST – Entering into Enclosed Spaces Training
The Entry into Enclosed Spaces Course has been developed in accordance with SSM highly experienced lecturers using our unique Training Polygon. The training is intended to meet the
requirements set out in The Merchant Shipping (Entry into Dangerous Spaces) Regulations 1988, IMO Resolutions A.864 (20) and the Code of Safe Working Practices for Merchant Seamen. The regulations come into force for ships to which the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) Convention 1974 applies, on the 14 May 2022 and for other ships including fishing vessels, on the 14 May 2023.
On successful course completion learners will be equipped to:
- Strict following of ISM Code
- Recognize potential dangerous enclosed spaces onboard a vessel
- Complete a typical enclosed space entry Permit to Work
- Carry out safe testing of an atmosphere prior to entry using typical industry test equipment, including knowledge of its maintenance & testing / calibration requirements
- Carry out a safe enclosed space entry
- Carry out self-rescue from an enclosed space
- Carry out the role of a safety attendant

Prerequisite:
Identification card or passport
After successful completion of the course candidates will receive EST – Enclosed Spaces Training Certificate.
* In compliance with the Guidelines the course is completed within one training day. Please note that any specific requirements for training can be developed as an addition to the one-day
course.
