D12 - Advanced fire fighting
Scope (target audience):
D12 - Advanced fire fighting course has been designed to meet the requirements of STCW section VI/3 and is based on the guidelines of IMO Model Course 2.03. Course provides training at advanced level for all officers.

Theory of fire
Fire control aboard ships
Ship firefighting organization
Training of seafarers in fire fighting
Procedures for fire fighting
Inspection and servicing of fire appliances and equipment
Firefighting process hazards
First aid
Fire investigation and reporting
Case studies
Review and final assessment
After successful completion of the course the trainees should have a better understanding of controlling firefighting operations aboard vessel, the effects of firefighting water on ship stability, organizing and training fire parties and investigating and compiling reports on incidents involving fire.

Period of validity:
The period of validity of the authorization is five years from the date of issue.
