Baseball Club Nada Celebrates 50th Anniversary with Support from Split Ship Management
Baseball Club Nada Split marked its 50th anniversary on Saturday, December 27, with a celebration held in the Ceremonial Hall of the Split Sports Hall of Fame at Gripa. The event brought together numerous former and current players, coaches, sports officials, sponsors, and friends of the club.
Baseball was introduced to Split by American sailors in 1918, and the first Split baseball club, “Krupa,” was founded in 1934. In 1974, the club “Salona” was established, which later moved to Split and became today’s Baseball Club Nada.
Nada boasts a rich history and significant sporting achievements: ten national championships, five victories in the regional Interleague, and four Croatian Cup titles. The year 2016 is particularly memorable, as Nada players reached the semifinals of the European Cup, won both the national championship and Croatian Cup, became Interleague champions, and were named the best men’s team in Split.
The celebration was further enlivened by Split comedian Bernard Perić, and the venue featured photographs from the club’s rich history displayed on a large video wall.
Longtime club president Ratko Božić, together with a representative of sponsor Split Ship Management, expressed gratitude to everyone who contributed to the club’s development and stability over the decades:
“Fifty years is both a short and long period. The club is stable, without financial problems, and our goal remains to win titles and promote baseball in Split. Hopefully, we will gather like this again for the 55th anniversary!”
Club secretary Sergej Vujnović recalled the past decades of success, and awards were presented to distinguished club members, legends, and sponsors.
The 50th-anniversary celebration once again confirmed that Baseball Club Nada, with the support of Split Ship Management, remains an important and recognizable part of Split’s sportingidentity.
