Description:


This course meets the requirement of IMO - the International Code for Ships Operating in Polar Waters  mandatory under both the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) and the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships (MARPOL). 

Polar Code  for Ships Operating in Polar Waters helps participants gain an understanding of safe operation of vessels in unique environmental conditions, together with an understanding of the international and national legislative requirements and safe working practice specifically in relation to polar waters. 
Course is designed to approach basic knowledge of ice characteristics and areas where different type of ice can be expected in the area of operation:

Basic knowledge of vessel performance in ice and cold climate,
Basic knowledge and ability to operate and maneuver a ship in ice,
Basic knowledge of crew preparation, working conditions and safety.


The PC basic training course includes mandatory measures covering safety part (part I-A). Pollution prevention (part II-A) and recommendatory provisions for both (parts I-B and II-B).
