Scope (Target audience) : The course is suitable for deck and engine officers and other candidates who have background in shiphandling and engine maneuverings who need to take into account climatic conditions of Polar waters in order to maintain the standard of maritime safety. required by the SOLAS Convention - International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea, 1974 - and International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships MARPOL 

Course content :  The purpose of the course is to provide training participants background of controlling vessels in ice and be familiar with standard practices to ensure safe functions of all equipment when approaching ice covered waters as well as the understanding of the importance of voyage planning and ship routing, ensure compliance with pollution – prevention requirements and gain awareness of the importance of safety management systems.

The course includes:

• The characteristics of ice when making ice transit.
• Maneuvering in ice.
• Practices of deck and engine personnel upon approaching ice covered areas.
• Approach to personal safety of ship staff when working in sub - zero and arctic conditions.
• Understanding cold weather precautions onboard and in port.

Duration: 3 days

Prerequisite : 

• Identification card or passport

Note to client : After successful completion of the course candidates will receive Ice Navigation Training Course certificate with a validity of 5 years.
